Facial Botox® is a treatment that gives to the skin a smoother and youthful appearance. Also, is used in rejuvenating therapies to treat areas on the face in order to remove fine lines and wrinkles.
During the procedure, Botox® will be injected into specific muscles (based on patients desired results) using a narrow-gauge needle. Anesthesia is not needed or required, since people who undergo this treatment only feel minor discomfort at most. Botox® will “freeze” the muscle movement by blocking neurotransmitters for a period of 4-6 months, which means that the treatment needs to be administered a few times a year to maintain its curative effects. If the treatment is stopped the muscles will begin to function normally and the aging process will resume.
Do not manipulate the treated area for 3 hours following treatment. Do not lie down for the next 4 hours after the treatment, this will prevent the Botox® from tracking into the orbit of the eye and causing drooping eyelid. Avoid receiving microdermabrasion or any other kind of facial and laser treatments for at least 10 days after the treatment. Exercise and all kind of activities involving heavy lifting or straining are strictly prohibited for the next 6 hours after the treatment. Resting will help to keep the Botox® in the injected area and not elsewhere.
Changes will appear within just a few days of treatment. As time goes on final results will be noticed within two weeks, preexisting wrinkles will become smoother, and new wrinkles will be prevented from appearing. In order to ensure a successful treatment, the doctor will give must-do important recommendations which will help the patient have a faster and better recovery. It´s necessary to mention that it can take approximately 7 to 10 days for results to be seen. If the desired result is not seen after 2 weeks after the treatment.
