A breast lift is a surgical procedure that helps you change the shape of your breasts by removing the excess of skin and breast tissue. If your breasts look flat, asymmetrical or your nipples seem to point downward, a breast lift could be the right option for you.
Women’s breasts tend to change over time losing their elasticity and firmness but by uplifting your breasts you can get them a fuller, rounder and perkier look which will not only restore their youthful and feminine proportions but will also help your bras fit more comfortable and in a more attractive.
The Surgery
There are three incisions which your doctor might make depending on the wished result: Around the areola, vertically down from the areola to the breast crease or along the breast crease. The breast tissue will be lifted and reshaped to improve its firmness and its form.
The areola and the nipple are repositioned and if necessary, the size of them will be reduced. The excess of skin will be removed and the surgeon will proceed to close the incisions. The surgery takes about 1 – 2 hours to perform.
Recovery Process
After the procedure, you will be instructed to wear a support girdle. A small and thin tube may be placed to the incisions to drain any excess of blood and fluids. Your breasts might be swollen for a couple of weeks. You will be prescribed medication to reduce any pain and soreness around the incisions. Some patients return to work after the first week though you will have to limit exercise or any hard efforts for the first 2 to 6 weeks.
Final Results
Even though the shape of your breasts will change over time until the final results settle, you will notice an immediate change in their appearance. Scars and incision lines are permanent but they will fade and can be easily hidden with a bra in the meantime. Remember that results might be affected by future pregnancies and weight fluctuations. The results can be long-lasting if you keep your regular weight and live a healthy lifestyle.
